    Dr. Hartman is a Johns Hopkins Hospital fellowship trained radiologist who is subspecialized in musculoskeletal, neuroradiology and body MRI. She graduated from the Boston University Radiology residency program. During medical school she was awarded the Joseph E. Whitley Award for Academic Excellence in Radiology.

     

    She has presented her MRI research internationally. Her publications include MRI research on automated liver segmentation and volumetric quantification and MR cholangiopancreatography. She has also published research on the radiation dose patients receive during CT fluoroscopy guided percutaneous interventional procedures.

     

    Dr. Hartman is a board certified Radiologist. Her goal is to provide exceptional care to her patients and exceptional service to her referring clinicians. Outside of work she enjoys time with her husband, the theater, ballroom dancing, the beach and cooking.

    Dr. Huang's research interests include the imaging of papillary projections in ovarian neoplasms, evaluation of jaw tumors using dentascan and osteomyelitis of the pelvis and hips in paralyzed patients.

    A member of the American Roentgen Ray Society and the Radiological Society and the Radiological Society of North America, Dr. Huang is a talented author and presenter. He has spoken at many national meetings and conferences and published several notable articles on topics ranging from MRI of osseous foot and ankle injuries to the CT appearance of salpingoureteral fistula. His special expertise in MR arthrography, CT colonography and high-field open MRI scanners is a valuable asset to our practice.

    An accomplished army reservist and radiologist, Dr. McFarren is credited with helping Andrews Air Force Base become the first air force institution in the nation to obtain ultrasound certification. In addition to treating patients at Progressive Radiology, she instructs medical students and residents at her alma mater, the Uniformed Services University. She is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society.

    In her spare time, Dr. McFarren, who has competed in three rugby World Cups, volunteers as an assistant coach for the United States Women's National Rugby Team.

    Professional activities

    Dr. Monteferrante's interest in neuroscience took hold during his undergraduate days at Johns Hopkins University. During that time, he conducted research at the Laboratory of Neurosciences at the National Institutes of Health. He went on to serve as chief resident during his diagnostic residency at Bridgeport Hospital, where he also won the hospital's Resident Research Award. Though well-versed in all aspects of MRI, Dr. Monteferrante has particular expertise in neuro MRI and pediatric neuroradiology. A senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, his peer-reviewed publications have addressed such topics as head trauma imaging, the role of imaging in child abuse, the CT diagnosis of emphysematous gastritis and the behavior of ependymoblastoma in the nervous system.

    Dr. Sachs is one of the senior and most experienced members of the Progressive Radiology team. An expert in MRI, CT and ultrasound, Dr. Sachs also is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at George Washington University.

    Highly regarded for his expertise in vascular and interventional radiology and cross sectional imaging, Dr. Smith has conducted numerous lectures for clinicians and radiologists on these topics. He is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the American College of Radiology. In addition, he is a former vice chairman of the National Medical Association's Section of Radiology and a past member of its Advisory Committee.

    Outside of work, Dr. Smith plays an active role in the community by serving on the boards of several community service organizations and mentoring disadvantaged youths in the Washington, D.C., area. He also has been appointed to many local and county government committees.
